My damn kobo updated before I could stop it. Is there a way to bring koreader back??
Hola e-book lovers! A new version of Glimpse is out: You can now choose where the side panel is positioned (left/right/top/bottom), see a mini-map when zoomed, and all in your OS language of choice. All features are toggleable, as I believe that it's the whole charm of KOReader: to customize it to work exactly like you want.
As always, post your issues or enhancement ideas on Github!
https://github.com/Fank1/glimpse
Added a smart timer that automatically pauses in menus and sleep mode.
Fixed a bug causing the timer to count faster than normal.
Added an independent language selection menu supporting 13 languages.
Added an option to hide the Min/Max buttons on sliders.
Fixed UI overflow issues caused by long translation texts.
Installation and updating are as simple as always. Please do not hesitate to report any bugs you might encounter or share your feature requests—I am constantly perfecting the plugin based on your feedback! Happy reading everyone!
You can show your support by giving it a star on GitHub and help the plugin reach more people. Thank you for your support...
Is there a way to"dont go thru the file system"? And use as a a kindle?
I just realized that i did read for a week because of that
Hello everyone, I'm a new user of KOReader and I'm a bit confused about it. I would like to know how to recover my reading history before jailbreak.
For example, If I don't run KOReader I can see my book of Don Quixote (that I sent using email in a epub format) but I can't see it on KOReader and I don't any of my reading stats of highlight there.
Thank you :)
So, I've been using Bookshelf as my UI and to be honest it's almost perfect, but I wanted something "cuter" so I decided to try Simple UI. I configured everything, got it looking just the way I wanted, I was so happy! But now Koreader is acting a little buggy. Sometimes I unlock it and it will still show half of the underlying framework screen. The same happened to me a couple weeks before when I tried to install a plugin to get a password for Koreader, after I disabled it everything went back to normal.
Has anyone had this Experience? Can it be solved? Or should I just go back to Bookshelf and never look back? 😛
Hi! Does anyone know what this means?😔😔😔😔
Trying to log in my Zlib account but it won’t work😔
I know I can filter the bookmarks menu by color but it would be cool if the preview text was highlighted with the matching color. I tried searching this subreddit but no luck.
hello! i recently jailbraked (jailbroke?) my kindle and installed koreader. one feature i actually like about amazon ebook management is that i can keep my books in the cloud and only download them when i'll actually read.
as i'm pretty sure is the case from most of us, i hate amazon and want to be able to do this in my own terms. i sucessfully connected my koofr account to my kindle and put some epubs in koofr (it isn't connected to dropbox or google drive, as it's required for me to pay them for this feature and it's not possible for me). the books are stored in koofr itself.
the issue is: as i try to download any book in my koreader from the cloud feature, the program just closes and i'm back at amazon interface. has someone else faced this issue? is there anything that can be done?
Hello everyone,
i need your help.
Last week I found my super old Kindle 4 non touch again and decided to jailbreak it and install Koreader.
I know it is old and realised most of the plugins and patches don't work.
So I want to ask fellow kindle 4 user what plugins do work / do you use?
What I tried so far:
-ZenOS: works fine, I just don't really like how it looks.
-SimpleUI: looks amazing, I just can't navigate through settings like layout editor.
-storefront did not work
-appstore seem to work
-Libbee won't let me connect
-libby-dashboard: I could open it but it wouldn't let me navigate. Wasn't even able to close this.
-LocalSend works
-filebrowser(plus) does nothing
-qever33 navbar patches didn't support non touch too
I really would appreciate some Ideas for a UI with navbar and a Libby plugin.
I use Calibre to sync books to KOReader on a Kindle Paperwhite 4. Naturally, the book covers are displayed in grayscale. When I push a book to Readest to continue on an iPhone or iPad, the cover remains in grayscale.
Does anyone know if it is Calibre or KOReader that is converting covers to grayscale? And is there a way to force both to not do the conversion so that I can get color covers in Readest?
Hey, does anyone know how to toggle BT on a Paperwhite 11th gen? I have it registered on the Italian store, and apparently EU registration removes your ability to toggle BT on and off. I need to do it because I installed KindleBTController and it asks me to manually toggle BT on.
Thanks!
There remains a general problem with dictionaries, often they give you lots of unnecessary info rather giving straight up meaning which is applicable in that context.
I made a small plugin (for now, only for personal use) , which uses free gemini api , to give you meaning of a particular word from the context of the sentance or passage.
Additionally, I added an option to have it translated to any native language (in my case it's Bengali language). Here remains a small demo. Comparing with a standard dictionary avaliable inside koreader.
I have thought of using local very small models like gemma for the next iteration, if it end up a little bit faster. I can easily make it my default option for long press one word , but to show you, side by side with normal dictionary, I have not implemented it.
i dont know what cause these little extra line in the icons. Has anyone ever encounter this? And how to fix this? Im using kindle. Thanks in advance😭
I feel like I've been wasting the battery of my kindle today since I've been experimenting on Koreader and all the different kinds of plugins etc.
How do I make my kindle autolock after x amount of minutes/inactivity?
I'm really really loving that you can upload custom bookmarks.
My Bottom Swipe option is locked at “off” and I cant swipe it to reveal the Style Tweak in Reader Mode. When I bottom swipe it exits Koreader altogether. What can I do about this? Thanks in advanced.
hi! is there a way to show all the books in HOME on bookshelf and not grouped by author? thank you soo much!
Hi,
I want to start reading again. But KindleOS was kinda meh back in the day. But from what I read online got really worse, and especially for this old kindle 3rd gen with amazon drawing the support for it completely and other anti-consumer moves.
I read KOReader is a good open software, which I am planning to use.
My problem: The battery of my kindle is busted (I already removed it due to massive bulging), so I will need to buy a new one for it, before I‘m even able to try to install KOReader. I found a battery I could buy for a few euros, and I found installation instructions on how to jailbreak and install KOReader. So on that front I am good I think.
My Question is: Is the Kindle 3rd gen capable enough for the modern day KOReader? Is it worth it to try repairing and jailbreak and everything else?
Or should I just buy another modern E-Reader and install KOReader on that? (I would buy Kobo Clara Clolour oder Kobo Libra Colour, not surr for now.)
Why do I ask?
I really liked the page buttons on my kindle, and I dont like that a lot of the modern readers require you to use the touchscreen to turn pages.
Also repairing my old kindle is reducing e-waste, which is good.
I appreciate all responces and opinions! (maybe you have another alternative for a new ereader with proper buttons?)
Thank you!
Is there a KOReader plugin that lets you define reading goals based on specific chapters?
For example, a 20-chapter book could have:
Week 1: Chapters 1–5
Week 2: Chapters 6–10
Week 3: Chapters 11–15
Week 4: Chapters 16–20
I’d love to have an overview showing how much of the current goal is left and an estimated reading time based on my actual reading speed/statistics.
Ideally, it could also display something like “~2h 15m left in this week’s goal” in the footer/status bar.
Does anything like this already exist, or would this require a new plugin?
So after reading several posts and comments here, i can say there are two possible solutions to battery drains, which are:
Moving the sideloaded books from the "documents" folder to other folder (ie. make a new folder at the root and put the books there) to prevent the Kindle do any kinds of indexing
Run KOReader with no framework
Haven't tried the first method since im away from computer, but interested to do the no framework method.
Other method that i havent seen yet is turning off unused plugins, but im not really sure if it will truly save some battery drain or not at all.
Any other tips or solutions that i miss? Thanks!
Edit: More tips!
Turning off Wifi when unused
Disabling unused plugins, especially one that rely on connecting to Wifi (Calibre, SSH) -> untested or unproven
Can anyone help me? I've been reading Jade City and somehow the image at the start of chapters is suddenly left aligned. I've tried everything I can find and I can't get it to to re-center on the page. I know it's dumb, but it's driving me nuts that I can't figure out how to fix it. Does anyone know how? I appreciate the help.
FYI - I know I should be able to google and figure this out. I've tried and failed. Hence asking this sub. Thank you!
Unofficial KOReader plugin for Goodreads. No official API — it replays your browser session.
For my own reading flow, I already had the other trackers covered; the two gaps were LiveLib (plugin post) and Goodreads. I saw ShelfSync (StoryGraph + Hardcover + Goodreads in one plugin) — useful if you want a bundle, but I prefer one tool for one job. This plugin only talks to Goodreads.
Auth is the full Cookie request header from a logged-in goodreads.com tab. One cookie is not enough. Cookies expire; Goodreads can break the unofficial endpoints anytime.
