Follow-up to my first benchmark. Emulator on an M4 Pro MacBook (Kindle PW5-like: 1236 × 1648, 300 DPI), KOReader v2026.07.2, real library of 2,692 EPUBs, tested 2026-10-27. All plugins on their latest stable tags: SimpleUI 3.0.1, ZenOS v4.2.0, Bookshelf v6.0.3, Bookends v5.31.0, VOS v1.4.1, Project:Title 2026.07-v3.8.3.

AndyHazz (Bookshelf's maintainer) reproduced the suite on Linux and sent a careful review. Most points applied to the older campaign and were already fixed, but his feedback led to: documenting that Bookshelf's library_* rows measure the stock browser with the plugin idle (the shelf has its own scenarios), reporting the fastest iteration next to the median because timing noise is one-sided, and removing the hardcoded macOS emulator path. I downloaded it on my Cobo for the first time today and I am absolutely obsessed

i just found out about BookOrbit, but hated how night mode was just inverted images. So made a patch to fix that issue and add other small features to reduce ghosting and switch between servers. As the issues get fixed on official plugin it will slowly go away from patch. Also you can choose which library display every time you open BookOrbit.

Maybe loading the images of the spines from browser based on the title? Just asking if it can be done, nothing serious, but it would be cool.

I'm a chronic rereader and love going over a book multiple times, and because I've always read on my phone before with various apps it's never been a problem, but KOreader's stats feature functions differently (no words per minute, for example).

I wanna know how everyone else tracks their rereads. Do you have some custom settings? A plugin? Do you just put a note at the start of your book and add on tally marks with each reread? I gotta figure something out because I've been itching to reread my favorite series

Wi-Fi is always turned off.

During the day, I usually keep the brightness at 0, while at night I keep it between 4 and 8.

I have four plugins installed, but only one of them is active: Bookshelf.

The others, BookCard and CoverCalendar, are disabled and I don't use them. I only enable BT Manager - HID Passthrough when I need to use it.

I have used it for around 2 hours in total.

I bought the device in February 2026, so it isn't old. It's a Kindle Paperwhite 12th generation.

I just updates my plugins:

-storefront

-simpleui

-bookshelf

And now KOReader keeps crashing whenever I try to open a book. It's only then. I can browse all settings, sync my library etc. That all works fine. Just the basic reading won't work.

Anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: I disabled the SimpleUI plugin. Bookshelf still works fine. It's not the solution, but it works for now :)

Is there anyone who also experiences this after the latest SimpleUI update? So after I read a book or open a setting menu, there will be a ghosting in the background. It's not the device problem since the other interface is just fine.

I’ve had fun messing around with Bookshelf most of the day. I’ve noticed the shelves have books that are grouped together by series (which I’m fine with). I just want to know if there’s a way to remove the author from underneath the books. I’ve searched high and low and can’t find an answer. I’ve been fiddling around in the settings and can’t seem to find it.

I just recently downloaded koreader on my kindle and I am having trouble connecting to ZLibrary.

I auto set the url, but every time I try to log in it says my credentials are wrong, even though they are not. I changed my password to try again and it kept saying it was wrong.

Then, I tried to use the cookies credentials to log in. However, I can't find the cookies starting with remix as I was told to look for on my browser.

I am looking for any advice on how to overcome this problem.

For context I have a kobo Libra colour. Running koreader, which says it doesn't need an update with simpleui

So apparently when I went to close koreader down so I could use send.djazz. Kobo decided to update to the latest version for me.

I have spent all evening trying to get my koreader back up and running. I ended up launching straight through nickelmenu instead of reinstalling kfmon (I really can't get kfmon working again! I have trieeedddd)

Now, with launching direct with nickelmenu I am having the following issues.

1. My led indicator light is always on when koreader is launched. Even in sleep. It's so bright and unusable in this state. I cannot get it to turn off.

2. When exiting/quitting koreader, it causes my kobo to be stuck in a boot loop that can only be fixed with a forced restart. I have found if I click reboot device this gets around that though, still not ideal.

Please help me either get kfmon launching again or fix these issues 🖤

While browsing for solutions to have a wireless clicker for my KPW3 (7th generation), I came across an article from How-To Geek saying that Amazon released a Kindle Audio Adapter. This allows users to plug in their headphones and use TTS for ebooks and have audio descriptions while navigating the menu.

A user from 2016 posted on mobileread that they were able to use an OTG cable and a USB mouse to turn pages in kindle after building a small app for KUAL. With that in mind, is it possible to have a koreader plugin that does the same thing? Even better, does that koreader plugin exist now?

Hey everyone! I made a Goodreads plugin for KOReader and wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in using it!

The plugin lets you:
1. Sync your currently reading books with Goodreads
2. Sync your reading progress
3. View your Goodreads lists
4. Check your Goodreads Reading Challenge progress

I thought it would be nice to bring more of my Goodreads activity directly into KOReader instead of having to switch between my e-reader and the Goodreads app or website.

Would anyone be interested in trying it out? I’d also love to hear what other Goodreads features you’d like to see in KOReader!

Hi, I've got a Kobo libra color running koreader and I've always used calibre for uploading my books. I never had any issues until a few days ago when the metadata stopped updating on my koreader library, even though the calibre metadata file seems ok whenever I check on my PC (can't see it on koreader even with "show hidden files" on). Up to now I've tried:

* Unplugging, plugging and unplugging again (usually works but not his time)

* Refreshing my metadata from calibre

* Using the polish menu tu embed the metadata on the kepub.epub files

* Deleting and reuploading the books

* Deleting and reuploading the metadata

* The "extract and cache" option with and without pruning

* Converting my books to epub3

And maybe some more I can't remember. The weirdest thing is that on the "calibre metadata search" of the magnifying glass menu all the information is displayed correctly. Lastly I thought the issue was installing the kobo.koplugin, so I took the folder out of my e-reader and still the metadata didn't update. I also use the kobotouch metaguide driver and believe I have it properly configured (given it has never had this issue before).

I am honestly at a loss and would appreciate any help you guys may have.

Could anyone help me figure out logging into z library on the Koreader plugin?

I made an account with Z library to use this plugin, but now I'm not sure if I signed up with 'the correct' Z library. I'm able to log in on my laptop browser at z-lib . id but when I enter the login details it says it's incorrect.

I've double check that the password is correct and I've confirmed the new account's email. Any leads? Thank you.

A few days ago I posted KoSend, an Android app that sends books from your phone to KOReader through its built-in calibre wireless client. Thanks to everyone who tried it and left feedback! Since then I've released three updates (now v1.2.0).

Here's what's new:

- Edit book details before sending: fix the title and authors, set the series and its number, add tags. KOReader then sorts and groups the book properly and shows the tags as keywords.

- Changes are written into the file when it's sent: the OPF for EPUB, plus FB2, MOBI, AZW3 and PDF info. The copy on your phone isn't modified, and "Restore details from the file" brings back the original details.

- Change the cover with any image from your phone (EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2).

- Crop the cover: 2:3, 5:8 (Kindle), 3:4 (Kobo), square, the image's own shape or free, with rotation and the final size in pixels. In EPUBs the cover page is fitted to the new image so it doesn't get stretched.

- Re-sending an edited book works: KoSend gives it a new file name so KOReader picks up the new cover and details, and it deletes the old copy from the e-reader.

- Series, series number and tags are sent to KOReader's calibre metadata for every book.

- Covers in the queue for EPUB, MOBI/AZW3 and PDF.

- A details page for each book: authors, series, publisher, date, language, ISBN, description, file info.

- Drag to reorder the queue, swipe to remove with undo.

- A Retry button right on books that failed to send.

- Better metadata reading for MOBI and AZW3.

- Safer transfers: KoSend reads the list of books on the e-reader every time it connects. It only deletes old copies that are actually there and never overwrites a different book with the same name.

- See how much space KoSend uses, with an option to delete a book's copy once KOReader has it.

Same as before: nothing to install on the reader, no accounts, no internet, GPL-3.0.

Still looking for testers on Kobo, PocketBook and other KOReader devices. If you try it, tell me whether it worked, along with your device and KOReader version.

I'm hoping to get some help!

I recently purchased the HANLINYUE Free3 and was able to get it to work as normal two days ago, however as of yesterday, koreader does not seem to detect any inputs from the remote, even though it shows that it is connected.

In the button mapper application within the stock kindle os, inputs are recognized and work as normal.

What can I do to fix this?

I've been using Koreader on my kindle for about 6 months. Today I was reading and it crashed and I tried to restart several times and it won't open koreader. The screen goes blank then I am taken back to the Kindle screen.Any suggestions on what to do? I have an 11th gen Paperwhite, firmware 5.18.6 if that matters.

I’m sure I still have some stuff to tweak but so far this is cute I’m liking it better then bookshelf right now lol
