Price increase on kindles?!?!
I don’t know what’s going on. The signature paperwhite is for $249 now. The base paperwhite is for $199 with ads. The basic is for $149?!?!
Reddit for slow, beautiful screens.

I had downloaded about 5 books on my kindle from libby and put it in airplane mode. After finishing my most recent book, I went to the next and couldn’t open it. I just got the notification “airplane mode is on turn it off?”. These were books I had downloaded, opened, and started reading before putting the kindle on airplane mode. Was there an update that caused this?

My old Kindle(7th generation) has served me well, but I decided it was finally time for a little upgrade (paperwhite 11th generation). Quite the difference side by side!
It’s been awhile since I’ve had a e-reader and decided to pick up this paperwhite signature edition. Taking books everywhere I go to read can be a task in itself. I like that I could just grab this and throw it in my backpack.
Weirdly this has been a hot button issue with my family since I got my Kindle like a year and a half ago. It kind of irritates me that they think it's so weird that I want to prepay off something I use constantly. Like my mom was legitimately laughing at me when I was talking to my little brother about it that I was thinking of just paying for the 2-year subscription. I don't know what hilarious about that. "My children are talking finance" she laughed I don't know how that's funny I'm a disabled adult you give allowance to I'm going to talk to my family about my purchases.
When she stopped laughing over something so weird she basically said I shouldn't do it because I don't know if Amazon's going to go under or not. I can't help but be irritated by that cuz first of all it's Amazon second of all even if it does I've spent larger amounts of money on stupider stuff in my life. I asked my sister and my sister who also pays for Kindle unlimited agreed with her.
I am an avid reader my main form of entertainment is reading I do not watch TV or movies I read. I have since 2020 always made sure I had a virtual library card and multiple different avenues to get books online. I don't understand what their issue is I pay for every single month anyway. My sister told me to look everything up very thoroughly and think long and hard about this decision what do they think Amazon's going to do to me?
I feel I must say yes my family does give me an allowance but think about how small that allowance is to view theKindle unlimited annual subscription as a big purchase the fact that I've been constantly thinking about this whenever Kindle unlimited comes out of my allowance. The only reason I was able to get a signature edition Kindle Paperwhite. The Kindle of my dreams was because I had been saving up and my grandma gave me money. Before anyone thinks I'm running a scheme or something I'm not. I want to do this so I could save up all my allowance to buy video games stuff that's it and in general I think it's a good thing to do because I've always had Kindle unlimited ever since I've had my Kindle and when I'm not had it I've either instantly gotten it back or been irritated that I couldn't pay for it this month because of my mismanaging of money.
Anyway all this is to say is it worth it I think it is just in general because I'm never not going to have Kindle unlimited I know this but I thought I'd just ask cuz apparently my family thinks it's a big decision but then again I also had to pre-warn them three days in advance when I bought a Kindle like I was buying drugs offline. Like "I'm going to warn you I bought a Kindle remember how I always wanted one remember?" My mother just now recently and I mean just recently in the last couple months stopped remarking how my Kindle was a stupid decision. Like I had a unbroken weekly streak and since I found my perfect settings and I'm not concerned about what anyone thinks about me using the assistive reader function on the app I'm 213 days going strong.
Hello! Just wanna know how many days/weeks your kindle basic battery lasts?
I recently bought a kindle basic 11th gen. It’s my first time using and charged it to 100%. But after 4-5 days, its battery is down to 20% already. I only read like 30-40mins per day in it. Is this normal?
Im probably nitpicking but I realized that in a certain area of the screen, the letters appear grayish instead of pitch black. Nothing too bad, I got it two days ago and its my first kindle so idk if its common.
Read the part where it says “lo sé, lo sé…, pero al grano”, “pero al grano” looks gray compared to the beginning of the chapter. This happens with or without lights.
It's something I can ignore, I think, but would yall return it?
I've seen here that many people use them and I'm genuinely curious, maybe I don't understand it because I can't see well from too far, I need the Kindle at about 15 inches from my eyes, I hold it in my hand and I can just turn the pages by tapping the screen.
It's been a while that me and my SO have been together. During the winter we loved reading with each other at night, but since the air conditioning needs to be on in the summer, and it's plugged in the outlet where I also have the phone charging and lamp one if the two had to be unplugged, so I spent the summer not reading books during the evening and using my phone.
We were talking about it and it being uncomfortable, and he decided to gift me this 😍
I just started setting it up and getting some books and I'm in love, I can't wait to read more even outside!
I’d love to hear any tips you have
I just booted up my kindle for the first time in years because I wanted to use it to read my external reading assignment. I’ll have to upload the file to my kindle so I downloaded the kindle app on my ipad and found that the library on my paperwhite is not showing up on my ipad (it says library is empty), I checked that I used the same amazon account so I’m just confused why it’s not showing my library.
Edit: It’s the kindle paperwhite 7th generation. I uploaded my file through the web and it fortunately showed on my kindle, it also showed on the ipad app but the other books I have on my kindle still isn’t showing.
Got the most basic Kindle last 17.8 and from then I have finished 5 books (thanks to Libby, partly to Amazon). For years I have battled with myself that physical books would always be the best. One would not really know the difference unless he had owned one.
Fala pessoal tudo bem?

Hi everyone. Noticed these very tiny black/grey specks in the middle of the screen. There are a few more that are smaller and even less noticeable. Are these dead pixels? No clue what they are. They don't show up very noticeably in the photo, but are pretty visible if I'm looking closely. They aren't dirt or anything before anyone says. Tried cleaning them off (and did a reset) and neither did anything.
I was planning on holding onto my kindle oasis until my last breath if I could, but something has happened that may have forced my hand.
Yesterday I opened it and my entire library was gone, but I was still logged in. I did a hard reset as my first step and that didn't work. I checked my Amazon account and phone app and all my books were there so I was able to stop panicking at least.
I tried re-registering and all that jazz and nothing. Then I checked the storage and it says it's almost full . I'm like wtf? It says the "others" file is nearly full but all media is empty. So I look further and it says "0.02 of 0.48gb" remaining which is again wtf?
I did some Googling and it appears that the local storage was corrupted and a factory reset is the only solution. Annoying but ok. Factory reset works and I can see my library again yay! As a side note I only have 300 some odd books on there and 24 hours later they still haven't finished downloading and only some of the covers have finished loading so be patient if you ever have to do this.
The problem is this kindle was a Christmas gift from 2022 and the gifter paid for the ad free version. The factory reset brought them back. I go to the chat bot and eventually it sends me to a more sophisticated AI that seemed promising at first but eventually started talking in circles so I gave up.
I called them today and explain what happened and after being put on hold twice while she "asks for assistance" she comes back and basically says they can't do anything about it and I'll have to pay a second time. I think it's because it's not listed in any of my orders due to being a gift. She actually suggested I have my boyfriend pay for it again. They also refused to offer a discount or credit.
So now I'm on the fence if I should pay for it or just love with it til I can afford to upgrade? Does anyone know of another solution? Or just gripe with me if it happened to you too!!
Last time I was in the sun for too long with my black kindle it got overheated and stopped working for a few hours until it cooled down. Not taking that risk anymore 😅 best 2€ paid
1st picture is the old look. Will put it later on back, as I liked it. Last two are how I decorated them now. Just wanted to share 🤸🏼♀️
I still cannot believe how good this model of Kindle is or just in general Kindle brand. I bought this - Kindle Paperwhite 10th gen (2018), 32gb, for 65€ and it is in very very good condition, no scratches and all, except that the battery is draining just slightly faster than the new device, but it's to be expected. It's so wonderful. Before I had two Pocketbook Verses.
I had a vacation recently and it was the most time I’ve spent reading in the past few years. I think I averaged two hours of reading and finished 4 books in one week.
I genuinely rediscovered the joy of reading. Obviously, the quality of the book makes a big difference. I stopped forcing myself to finish books I did not particularly enjoy.
Anyway, I liked this picture I took, so I wanted to share it.
This is my very first kindle, and I bought it while I was studying my masters degree. God, I read so many books with it, and it has traveled with me to many countries.
Recently, I could not turn it on anymore, and it showed this battery warning sign, and I purchased a replacement battery and changed the battery. But it still show this battery warning sign.
I am not sure if it’s still savable. If you happen to know what might be wrong, could you offer some advice?
Or should I give up already.
How do you get used to it from reading on your phone so much? I hate the constant glare on my phone tho.
El primero que se va !!!
What the hell is pyromaniacccc??? The Wikipedia feature also doesn’t help much
I know I can just look it up, but it’s frustrating to look up every word the dictionary doesn’t explain! Justice for non-English speakers!
